County Wexford, located on Ireland's southeast corner, which is known as the ‘sunny southeast' since, on average, it receives more sunshine than anywhere else in the country. The county is surrounded by water, the Atlantic to the south, St. George's Channel and the Irish Sea to the east, and its western boundary is the River Barrow. The Blackstairs Mountains are to the north as well as the southern tips of the Wicklow Mountains. The county is a haven for wilds birds. Swans, wild duck, kingfisher, pheasant, and wood pigeons call many places throughout Wexford home. The county has a great deal of historical significance as well due to the abundant remains from both the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age. The county offers a good combination of historic sites and modern attractions.

Of its modern offerings, golf is one of the leading draws. Wexford is home to numerous courses that offer plenty of variety ranging from parkland to traditional links. A popular choice is the Rosslare Golf Club, which sits at the southernmost tip of the coast on a narrow peninsula surrounded by the Irish Sea and the Wexford Harbour. There are two courses at the club, one 18-hole championship with a classic links layout and a 12-hole course called the Burrow Course.
