In Ireland's northwest, County Donegal boasts marvelous, natural sights and a slowed-down vibe through some of the isle's most remote parts. It is Eire's northernmost county and features a deeply indented coastline forming many long loughs, most notably Lough Foyle and Lough Swilly. Tourists can marvel at the sixth highest sea cliffs in the world at the Slieve League cliffs. Inland, the Hills of Donegal consist of two major ranges, the Derryveagh and Bluestack Mountains.

Another place of quiet, natural splendor is the Glenveagh National Park. It's Ulster Province's only national park and boasts a hearty mix of boglands, lakes and woodlands and even a Victorian castle.

Donegal, together with the next door County Sligo, make up a popular golf tour with a handful of world class links. The northernmost club in Ireland is Ballyliffin, home to two pure links courses, the Old Course and newer Glashedy Links. Another county favorite is Rosapenna Golf Links, which has a hotel and two courses, the Old Tom Morris Course and the Sandy Hills links. Other favorite plays in County Donegal include Narin and Portnoo Golf Club, Portsalon Golf Club and Donegal Golf Club.
