Balleybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club is nestled at the base of the surrounding Donegal Mountains, offering views that stretch across the mountains into Finn Valley. To the east, there are views of the Blue Stack Mountains. At just under 5,500 yards it is not a particularly long course but the undulating parkland provides many natural challenges. The golf course opened as a nine-hole layout in 1958 and a second nine was added 20 years later. Since then, both the golf course and its facilities have undergone major renovations to make it one of the area's most popular courses. A new clubhouse with a bar and restaurant was constructed that overlooks many of the holes. The course architect, P.C. Carr, ensured that golfers will use every club in their bag on this layout. Bunkers are strategically placed throughout, making it a formidable test of your short game skills. While Balleybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club offers a challenge, it has player-friendly features that make it approachable to all skill levels.
