West Pines Golf Club opened with 9 holes in 1965, with 9 additional holes built several years later. In 2004, the City of Douglasville purchased the existing golf course. Wanting to keep the golf course as "green space", Mayor Mickey Thompson and the City Council hired HMS Golf of Woodstock to redesign, rebuild and manage the golf course. HMS Golf subsequently hired local golf architect and former PGA Tour player, Bill Bergin to design the course. Forefront Construction began the reconstruction in early 2005. The result was a brand new golf course with 18 new holes, a practice tee and putting green. The course opened on December 26, 2005 to rave reviews, playing over 30,000 rounds in it's first full year of operation. In the fall of 2006, the new clubhouse opened in time to host the City of Douglasville's annual charity golf tournament. With the completion of this final phase of construction, West Pines Golf Club is proudly serving the residents of Douglasville and it's surrounding communities.
