Bright Castle Golf Club is a tough but fair course with four formidable par-5's including the 6th hole, which until very recently was the longest hole in all of Europe. This challenging hole measures a whopping 735 yards from the back tees. The club even had to shave a few yards off of the course in order to comply with handicap regulations. The tree-lined fairways are seemingly easy but don't be deceived, there are many possible pitfalls awaiting. They are severely sloped and the trees present more of a challenge than you may think. The tee boxes on the back nine are particularly difficult, a trade-off for the easier tees but more difficult fairways on the first nine holes. Straight, accurate shots are a necessity for surviving the last nine holes. Thankfully the golf course offers scenic respite to the many challenges with its spectacular views of the Mourne Mountains. Visitors are welcome at Bright Castle Golf Club year-round, any day of the week.
