Sherborne Golf Club is a thriving member club and was founded in 1894 and has welcomed anyone who wishes to tackle this beautiful 18-hole parkland course. With stunning views over Somerset and the Blackmore Vale, much of the course was designed by renowned Open winner and inter-war course architect James Braid with the club being a member of the Braid Association. Sherborne Golf Club was originally designed as a 9-hole course but quickly outgrew this stage and was developed in to and 18 hole course in 1936. In 2000 parts of the course were remodelled and lengthened, losing two short par 3 holes, two short par 4 holes and a par 5 hole, gaining new second, third, fourth, tenth and eleventh holes, being four par 4 holes and a par 5 hole, by building three new greens, reusing two of the existing greens and extending the course into the practice ground
