Celebrating its centenary in 2011, Croham Hurst is a traditional members-club that offers a warm and friendly welcome to all who come to visit. Situated in gently rolling countryside just two miles from central Croydon the club feels like it’s in the middle of rural England, with mature tree-lined fairways and dense woodland, creating a natural amphitheatre on virtually every hole. The comfortable clubhouse has a south-facing terrace, and the restaurant is renowned for serving high quality, home-cooked food.
Designed by Fred Hawtree and James Braid, Croham Hurst Golf Course extends up a valley in a series of gently-undulating loops. The course rewards accurate driving, and the well-placed bunkers and undulating greens provide an interesting challenge to golfers of all standards. Built on chalk soil the course drains well, offering the opportunity of all year round golf, while it also offers an easy and enjoyable walk and is seldom deemed unplayable, even in the harshest conditions.
