Stonehaven Golf Club is one of the most impressive and picturesque golf courses in Aberdeenshire. It overlooks the North Sea and the harbour town of Stonehaven, which is only a short drive to Royal Deeside, one of the most popular tourist areas in Scotland.
The original chimney still rests on a more modern club house, where you can enjoy a few drinks while watching players tee off at the 15th tee. Keep an eye out for the iconic bunker known as 'Hitler's Bunker' which was formed when a German aircraft dropped a bomb on the course only a hundred yards from the clubhouse. It is still very much in play on the first and second fairways!
At 5103 yards this par 66 golf course is not very long but, for the first-timer, care should be taken, especially on the front nine where the cliffs often come into play. Take care at the 15th hole, the high winds can make this 161 yard par three a real challenge and can mean you end up having to hit with anything from a Pitching Wedge to a Driver! This is a really good challenge of a course and a must play if you are ever in the North East of Scotland.
