Founded in 1923, this once National Coal Board “miners only” Golf Club was designed by the world famous Dr Alister MacKenzie. Based on the outskirts of the village, it’s only minutes away from Durham City Centre. The club provides a warm welcome in both their well-stocked pro shop and clubhouse where nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant provides lunch and dinner to both members and visitors.
South Moor is a 72 par course that stretches over 6273 yards. The course is well maintained and golfers can enjoy excellent views of the surrounding landscape throughout their round. It provides a challenge for all golfing abilities with a combination water hazards, challenging fairways and sharp turns. The 15th hole is the signature hole as it provides the ultimate challenge with the many trees and stream across the fairway.
