Located just outside of Cork City Center, Lee Valley Golf and Country Club is one of the many Irish golf courses designed by acclaimed former Ryder Cup winner and architect Casey O'Connor, Jr. Opened in 1993, hospitality and memorable scenery are abundant at Lee Valley, as are well-maintained greens and a course known for its high quality conditions. Lee Valley's 6,200-yard parkland design is unique thanks to it requiring golfers to take many links-style tactics due to wind. Water is in play on seven of the golf course's holes, including on the 364-yard first hole, requiring golfers to avoid a left side bunker before needing an approach shot short of the green. Lee Valley Golf and Country Club's 18th hole is almost as demanding; the sharp right-to-left dogleg par-4 hole requires cutting the dogleg to difficult tee shot to meet the championship finishing challenge. Cutting the corner from this location is the prime position in which a player wants to be.
