Downpatrick's Golf Club's roots begin in 1929. The par 69 parkland course measures 6,120 yards with tight tree-lined fairways, fast and true greens and well placed bunkers. The golf course provides views of Strangford Lough, Mourne Mountains, the Isle of Man and Slemish Mountain in Antrim. Surprises are frequent on the golf course, from trees in the middle of the fairway to a string of bunkers that isn't quite against the green. Rarely does the elevation stay in one place, changing gradually in both directions from tee to green on holes that vary in length. Open water makes a solitary appearance on Downpatrick Golf Club's par 3, 13th hole.
