Turning Stone - Atunyote

5218 Patrick Rd, Verona, New York, 13478-3012

In the heart of Central New York s Mohawk Valley, Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort is the headline course at the premier golf mecca in all of New York State. Located a few miles from the main campus of an award-winning casino resort owned and operated by the Oneida Indian Nation, Atunyote Golf Club is an upscale facility that was originally inspired by Augusta National. The long entrance drive of the facility is Atunyote Golf Club s version of Magnolia Lane. When you have a tee time to play the lavish Tom Fazio s design from 2004, you ll be testing your skills on a meticulously manicured playing field that is a fixture on lists of the top courses in New York State. It s also a bona fide championship test where you ll walk in the footsteps of great PGA TOUR players. Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort enjoyed a five-year run as a PGA TOUR tournament site and produced such notable winners as Matt Kuchar and Dustin Johnson. Tiger Woods also won an edition of the Notah Begay III Challenge charity tournament held here. Though the course is very long and a fitting challenge for the most accomplished players, it is not the hardest test at the 72-hole resort. With five sets of tees, Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort enables golfers of varying skill levels to find a fun and manageable playing distance between 5,120 yards and 7,315 yards. Fazio s broad-shouldered layout features generous fairways that ramble over rolling hills dotted by man-made lakes, waterfalls, and streams. Distant panoramic views of the Mohawk Valley abound. Though water runs the length of a few holes on the back nine, the chief challenge when playing Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort comes from staying out of or getting up-and-down from Fazio s large, gorgeous bunkers. Oversized greens also make for adventurous putting, as the subtle undulations befuddle many a player. From the planting of over a thousand trees to the lavish flora, the elegant stonework, and the on-course amenities that include an old-time phone booth from calling in food orders, no expense was spared or detail overlooked in making Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort an unforgettable golf experience. Equally noteworthy is the Tour-quality practice ground that includes a driving range and an enormous short game area and practice green. Atunyote also boasts a showplace clubhouse with a pro shop and a country-club-style restaurant with tasty food. The only downside is that the season is rather short the course closes for the year by the end of October. For a memorable round on a top-100 caliber course where you ll enjoy pristine conditions and be treated like a VIP guest, splurge for the green fee and treat yourself to a tee time at Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort.
