Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon Legends Course in Beaumont, California is one half of a 36-hole world-class championship facility that was once the Home of the Southern California PGA and is now owned by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. In 2000, the design team of Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley designed both the Legends Course along with its sister eighteen, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon Champions Course, in a convenient location between the I-10 and 60 Freeway, about 35 miles west of Palm Springs. Both courses share a rich tournament history, having hosted such prestigious events as the Symetra Tour Championship, Champions Tour National Qualifying Finals, PGA TOUR Q-School, Southern California PGA Professional Championship, NCAA Division III National Championships, and many more. Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon Legends Course is the more scenic of the two layouts, though housing construction has proliferated on what had been an untamed natural playing field. Schmidt and Curley made the most of the canyon and ravine-laden landscape. The routing proceeds in a counterclockwise loop over up-and-down terrain that is constantly buffeted by wind. Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon Legends Course is a very challenging test. From the tips, the layout extends to a whopping 7,442 yards. Six sets of tee markers, plus additional hybrid options on the scorecard, enable players of wide-ranging abilities to find a manageable distance to play from.
